The
concert was held on the Holy Cross basketball court and was general
admission.
Holy Cross stated that this years show doubled the attendance of last
years.
Though The Screaming Souls
equipment was set up in front of Wyclef’s, the band still had plenty of
room to maneuver.
A great version of "Big
Yellow Slide" started the show with the band repeating the
end chorus a couple of extra times. "Eyes of Love" got an exceptional response from the crowd.
Barry filled in on a couple of Jason’s vocal parts during the song.
After "Eyes of Love" the Siren began to blare through the arena
which created a dance like atmosphere for "Fire and Gasoline".
It seemed like everybody was moving during this one with the climax being
some very cool lighting effects at the end of the song.
Even the new fans that had never seen the band perform before were dancing
during "Fire and Gasoline".
As good as it sounds on the CD, when you hear it live it is just one of
those songs that give off an amazing vibe.
The band seemed to loosen up a little bit at this point as they started an
improv that had a reggea-ish feel to it.
It included parts of the old Police song, “The Bed’s to Big Without You.”
This seg-wayed into "Tripping In the Water" and then the
band ended with the same beginning improv
with the crowd chanting back to Barry.
Barry addresses the crowd for the first time at this point giving a shout
out to all the soldiers in the Middle East
and expressing his dislike of Osaama Bin Laden, much to the crowd’s
approval.
This ended up being a perfect introduction to the Bob Marley song, “One
Love.” Barry, who was sporting a Marley T-shirt,
as well as the rest of the band got the crowd really into this one as they
kept on singing back the chorus.
Before the final song, Barry states his excitement to see Wyclef perform
and then the band finishes off a very powerful set with "I Can’t Do It
Alone".
Overall a well played and persuasive 30 minute set that seemed to be well
received by the people that were seeing the Screaming Souls for the first
time.
The highlight of the whole night though may have came when Wyclef called
Barry out to play guitar.
They both played the opening to
Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” and
then played an amazing version of
Bob Marley’s
“Redemption Song”
which contained to hair raising solo’s By Barry!
It was definitely a great moment for Barry,
and anyone else who knew how happy he was to be on stage with
Wyclef!
